In 1959, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Losurdo Sr. established Losurdo Foods, Inc. Mr. Michael Losurdo, Sr. is the son of Italian immigrant parents. His passion for cheese making started at the age of seven in the back of his parent’s Lodi, NJ store. After watching his father for sometime, he perfected the art of reworking curd into Fresh Mozzarella cheese. In his late teens, he decided to venture out on his own. He quickly developed a customer base and began selling cheese to area stores and pizzerias. After gaining an understanding of the pizza business, he decided to expand his business beyond cheese. He convinced his existing customers that they could get everything they needed from him rather than buying from multiple suppliers. He and his wife Mary became distributors of tomatoes, cheese, flour, and other related items. A few years later, they founded Losurdo Foods, Inc. The company’s reputation for producing the highest quality Italian style food products is known and highly regarded throughout the industry.
